La Magnifica Comunità

La Magnifica Comunità was born as a baroque instrumental ensemble in 1990 with the conviction that philological and stylistic research is essential to understand the music of every era. Concertmaster and conductor is Enrico Casazza.

Partner of famous singers such as Vivica Genaux, Simone Kermes, Sonia Prina, Romina Basso, Raffaella Milanesi, the Magnifica Comunità holds concerts in the most prestigious halls and festivals in Italy and abroad, such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilarmonie in Hamburg, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Festival de Music Baroque de Lyon, the Quirinale Concerts in Rome, the Herkulesaal in Monaco, the Principal Theater in Santiago de Compostela, the Palau de Catalan Music in Barcelona, the Haydnsaal Schloss Esterhazy in Eisenstadt, the Ravenna Festival, MiTo festival, Sochi international art winter festival, the Teatro Grande in Brescia, and many more.

 

Recipient of numerous prizes and flattering reviews, La Magnifica Comunità confirms itself as one of the most authoritative baroque ensembles dedicated to the repertoire of the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries on an international level.

 

Awarded with a "Choc de la Musique", for the recording of the fourth volume of L. Boccherini's Quintets for the Brilliant label, it obtained the coveted 5 Diapasons from the well-known French magazine Diapason as well as praiseworthy reviews from specialized magazines; again for the Dutch label the Magnifica Comunità is completing the recording of the entire opera omnia of Boccherini's Quintets.

 

La Magnifica Comunità has also recorded copiously for the Sony, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Tring International, Tactus labels.

With the "Choc de Musique" award received for the recording of the fourth volume of the Boccherini Quintets, Enrico Casazza confirms his place as one of the most important performers of the early music movement. In addition to this important recognition from the world renowned magazine Le Monde de la Musique, he has received enthusiastic reviews and prizes from magazines and websites such as Diapason, Amadeus, Scherzo, Musica, Fanfare magazine and Musicweb.
Enrico Casazza completed his studies at the Academy of Music " A.Buzzola " in his native Adria, obtaining a violin diploma with highest honors. He continued his studies with Carlo Chiarappa, Pavel Vernikof, Dino Asciolla, Franco Gulli and Giuliano Carmignola. Subsequently he embarked on an outstanding career as a concert artist that led him to perform with many famous musicians and in many of the world's most important concert halls as well as at numerous international festivals. He has appeared at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, Teatro Carignano in Turin, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Opera House di Sydney, Berliner Philharmonie/Kammermusiksaal Berlin. Teatro de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Metropolitan museo Ney York, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro della Pergola in Florence, Théâtre de Toulouse, Noga Theater in Tel Aviv, Henry Crown Hall in Jerusalem, Chapelle Royale in Versailles, Academia de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Salle Paderewski in Lausanne, Brahms Festival Philipszaal in The Hague, Grote Zaal in Utrecht and the Hoji Hall in Tokyo, New DelhiTheatre.
He has played duo concerts with the world famous violist Dino Asciolla, who expressed his admiration for Mr. Casazza's playing in the important Italian magazine Piano Time.

As first violinist and director of the ensemble "La Magnifica Communità," he is in the process of recording the complete Boccherini Quintets.
He has performed as soloist and director with numerous chamber orchestras and early music ensembles such as the "Accademia Bizantina" (with whom he recorded for Italian radio and television), l'Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, La Fenice of Venice, Matheus Ensemble directed J.C.Spinosi, , and Europa Galante directed by Fabio Biondi.
He is professor of baroque chamber music and violin at the Conservatorio "G.Donizetti" in Bergamo.
